Ms. Tokunbo Kujore of Los Angeles, California was crowned the 2012 Miss Nigeria in America on Saturday, September 1, 2012 adding her to a lineage of Nigerian American women who have served as ambassadors of empowerment for African women in the Diaspora.
Ms. Kujore holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from California State University, Los Angeles and a Masters Degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California. She aspires to use her background in Communication and Journalism to encourage young people to develop a passion of making a difference. She believes that we all have a responsibility to make the world a better place.
In the summer of 2012, Ms. Kujore developed ‘Project Promote Peace.’ A project designed for youth of all ages to keep them engaged over their summer break while positively impacting their communities by participating in service missions for various communities across Los Angeles. The idea behind Project Promote Peace is that we are all generally more inclined to do something nice for others especially when we have been recipients on kindness, ultimately maintaining and promoting peace. Till date, Project Promote Peace has successfully helped feed over 5,000 people in the Los Angeles food banks, provided lunch bag meals for the homeless and provided mentor-ship to at risk youth and teenagers.
As the 2012 Miss Nigeria in America, Ms. Kujore will continue her mission of service and commitments to various communities through Project Promote Peace.
