Charismatic actor Razaaq Adoti aka Raz has recently been seen on the big screen as the lead 'Dutch Maas' in director Bill Duke's controversial feature entitled Cover alongside Aunjanue Ellis, Vivica A. Fox and Lou Gosset Jr.

Upon graduating High School Raz immediately enrolled into college where he earned his Performing Arts Diploma. During his second year of studies, at age 17, Raz landed his first professional acting role on stage, which then segued into his first appearance on national television a few months later.

After a successful season of two productions with the National Youth & Music Theatre Company (NYMT) winning the Edinburgh Festival Fringe First Award with Aesop, and playing the lead ‘Nathan Detroit’ in a world tour of Guys and Dolls, Raz was accepted into London’s prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama where he spent three years honing his skills and earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree.

Having spent his acting career, thus far, almost exclusively on stage, he had a profound desire to further his craft on the big screen as much of his inspiration came from the performances of Hollywood Heavyweight, Marlon Brando. Within a year of leaving drama school his vision became a reality, in 1997 Raz was cast in a major supporting role in Steven Spielberg’s new epic Amistad. He was humbled to be a part of the distinguished cast assembled to chronicle a very important chapter in African and American history. The ensemble included: Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman and Matthew McConaughey to name a few.

After completing Amistad, he continued his career working on various TV, independent film, and stage projects. In 2001 he returned to Hollywood to work with another Oscar-winning director in the form of Ridley Scott. The movie was Black Hawk Down in which he played the main antagonist 'Yousuf Dahir Mo'alim'.

Raz has since gone on to star in numerous features such as as the lead role in Sheldon Lettich's, The Hard Corps opposite Jean Claude Van-Damme. He has graced the big screen as a leading man in many productions such as director Paul Anderson’s Resident Evil: Apocalypse, director Frank E. Flower's critically acclaimed feature Haven: with Bill Paxton, Zoe Saldana and Orlando Bloom, and as the playboy marine 'Duke' in the sci-fi thriller Doom: alongside Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to name a few.

As a proud son of Africa and firm supporter of promoting positive images from the continent, Raz has written, produced and is set to star in the movie Sons of the Soil, which is due to be shot between London, England and Lagos, Nigeria under the banner of his 'Area Boyz Entertainment' production company in 2009.
