Biography
Born on September 20, 1983 to Mr. Emmanuel Oke and Mrs. Iyabo Oke, she is the oldest of four daughters.  Being the only sibling born in Nigeria, she feels a compelling responsibility to ensure that her sisters never feel disconnected from their home.  As the oldest, she understands her charge to prepare the way for those that will come after her; to prepare the way not only for her sisters, Bukola, Abiola, and Dupe, but for her children and grandchildren.  Ronke walks on faith and does all things in Christ who strengthens her.  Ronke has a background in Politics, Law and Education, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Art in Philosophy at the University of Memphis.  She is expected to finish her degree in January 2009 with a concentration in Logic.  She has aspirations of obtaining a Ph.D in Philosophy as well as a Juris Doctorate after the completion of her program.    Her college alma mater is the illustrious Spelman College where she graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy.  Ronke wants to practice Criminal Defense before she makes her way into Nigerian politics.  Eventually she wants to work with the OAU/African Union to figure out a way to strengthen the organization and make it more useful for the countries it represents. Yet more important to her than accolades are the people in her life that support her and keep her strong.  Without them, she says, she would not have the power to overcome in a world that lessens her intelligence and subjugates her abilities.   Because of them she recognizes that her biggest adversary is herself, and this world cannot subsist unless she understands that fear and self-doubt do not bring about change.  Ronke is a woman of change, new beginnings, empowerment, equality, justice and love.  She uses these tools to accomplish what she was sent here to do: make the world a better place and speak for those who have no voice. Ronke Oke will represent Imo State in the 2008 Miss Nigeria in America Beauty Pageant.
