Ashley Ofuokwu was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 1, 1988. She is the third out of five girls and two boys. She is currently a transfer student at Texas A&M University-Commerce where she is majoring in Business Administration with a minor in International Business. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, gymnastics and spending time with family. She has a passion for international public service, which has led her to travel abroad to Nigeria, Benin, Dubai and England.  Her ultimate goal is work internationally with third world countries helping with community and economic development.  Ashley Ofuokwu graduated with honors from Coffeyville Community College where she was a tremendous student/athlete. She was also the co-Captain of the All-Girl Cheerleading team where she conducted and organized practices and acted as a facilitator.  She is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Academic honor society, Student Government Association and the National Dean’s list and has been recognized in the USA Today Magazine as a USAA National Collegiate Education Award Winner and Kansas All-State Academic Team Member.
In addition to her academic excellence, Ashley is extremely active in her community by being a United Way Volunteer. In Spring of 2008, Ashley moved to Washington D.C to intern with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation where she served under the Honorable Congressman Bobby Rush. While in DC, Ashley’s passion for community service increased even further and she satisfied this passion by volunteering with the Horton Kids Foundation, Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund and the Avon Breast Cancer Walk-A-thon. As a born again Christian, community activist, she is committed to service to all mankind. She is a true leader, a star and inspiration to young women around the world. Ashley will represent Kaduna State in the 2008 Miss Nigeria in America Beauty Pageant.
